Today, I was going to post my last Washington D.C. trip diary. And it is completed. Except, I felt this needed to be told instead. Today an artist was shot and killed. XXXTentacion. While performing on stage in Florida. Less than an hour ago while writing this. As soon as I heard the news I pulled up a new draft. So here are my thoughts and feelings right now. Because, in distress you are supposed to explain it, right? That’s what I was taught anyway.
His past was rough, hopefully, he is in a better place now. I have his songs on repeat. I am trying to let it sink in that someone so amazing, even though he had done some bad things, is gone. But that seems to be happening a lot recently. When will it stop? Will it ever? Probably not.
His music was something I loved to listen to whenever. It had a really sad and depressing vibe to it but it was amazing. I have decided to list two of my favorites down below.
These two songs are always my go-to songs. They are really catchy and the lyrics have a really deep meaning when you really think about them, analyze them. It’s one of the reasons I like his music so much. Hopefully, those two songs are enjoyable.
I have already cried enough, for this. I can’t anymore. I just wanted to throw this together to say goodbye to such an iconic artist. You will be missed. You had a long life ahead of you. One shot ended it all.
Funny how that happens. One motion, one action, one horrible decision, can end such an amazing life. I know his family will never see this. But you are not alone. And sadly, you are not the first to have to experience this pain. Must we go back to Christina Gimmie? Or Jonh Lennon, shot multiple times by a FAN? Or Tupac, shot while driving to Las Vegas? Or Marvin Gaye, shot by his own god damn father? 50 Cent, shot 9 times, and somehow survived? Jimmy Wopo, shot just a few hours ago?
What do they all have in common? They were all killed with a gun. A split second can end a life, dead.
